A 1,000 MW photovoltaic project developed by China General Nuclear Power Group has been connected to the grid and commenced operations in Laos.

Located in Oudomxay province, the large-scale solar facility is expected to generate approximately 1.65 billion kWh of electricity annually, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by around 1.3 million tonnes per year.

During construction, the project created nearly 3,000 local jobs and contributed to regional infrastructure improvements, including road rehabilitation and the reinforcement of five bridges. It also involved collaboration with over 70 enterprises from China and Laos, including more than 30 local companies.

In addition, the initiative supported capacity building through the establishment of a clean energy standards research institute and training for nearly 100 local engineers. Environmental protection measures, including ecological restoration and avoidance of sensitive areas, were also implemented.
