China-based Chery & Wanda Bus Company Limited has delivered 28 of the 55 electric buses to be deployed on the upcoming Vientiane bus rapid transit (BRT) system. The BRT project, part of the Vientiane Sustainable Urban Transport Project (VSUTP), includes the construction of bus stations, dedicated bus routes, operating systems, maintenance facilities, and installation of BRT communication lines (fibre optics and CCTV cameras).

The BRT system will span over 12 km and cover 27 stations. Passenger services are expected to commence in 2026. The project is also being financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
