Cambodia commissioned the 1.73 km Mekong river bridge and a 143 km road stretch in April 2015. The bridge and road link the rural parts and the provincial town of Stung Treng province. They also link Stung Treng province with Preah Vihear province and with the borders of Vietnam and Laos. The project has been constructed by the Shanghai Construction Group over a period of three years. It was undertaken through a concessional loan of $116 million from the Chinese government.
