The Government of Thailand has approved proposals to construct two bridges, with a combined cost of USD175m, in the south of the country. The first bridge will be located over the Songkhla Lake and the project is estimated to cost around USD127 million. The 7-km long bridge will reduce travel time between Song Khla and Phatthalung from 120 minutes to only 15 minutes.

The second bridge will be located in Koh Lanta and cost around USD48 million to build. Once completed, the bridge will reduce travel time between Koh Lanta and the Krabi Province from about 120 minutes to two minutes.

Work on both the projects is scheduled to commence in September 2023, with completion expected in 2025.
