The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority’s (BMTA) bus procurement plan has been approved by the Thai cabinet. Under the plan, BMTA will invite bids for the supply of 3,183 buses, worth 13.16 billion baht. The buses will be fuelled by diesel, natural gas, and other alternative fuels (including gasohol E85). Diesel-fuelled buses will be expected to run on biodiesel as well. Earlier, in April 2013, the Economic Policy Screening Committee, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, approved the terms of reference of the bus procurement plan.
