Blueleaf Energy, a pan-Asian renewable energy platform owned by Macquarie Asset Management, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysian sustainability advisory firm Chemsain Sustainability to explore the development of up to 3 GW of onshore utility-scale renewable energy projects in Sarawak, Malaysia.

The partnership will focus on solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS), with collaboration spanning site and grid access, permitting, technical development, and community engagement. The initiative aligns with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and Sarawak’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

Over the next two years, the partners will identify and evaluate project opportunities, aiming to position Sarawak as a regional clean energy hub while creating jobs and strengthening local industry ecosystems.
