Biznet has deployed Ciena’s WaveLogic 5 Extreme (WL5e) technology across the international segment of its Biznet Nusantara Cable System-1 (BNCS-1) submarine cable network to strengthen connectivity across Indonesia. The upgrade is intended to support 400G high-speed services and improve network capacity, reliability and digital connectivity between domestic and international networks.
The deployment covers connectivity links serving Java, Sumatra and Bangka Islands and includes integration with Biznet’s broader fibre network infrastructure. Ciena Services and Terrabit Networks are supporting the deployment of Ciena’s 6500 platform powered by WaveLogic 5 Extreme technology, while Biznet is also implementing Ciena’s Navigator Network Control Suite to improve network planning, automation and operational efficiency. The initiative additionally expands capacity on the Batam–Singapore corridor to enhance international gateway capabilities and improve access to global digital services.
The upgrade builds on previous collaboration between Biznet and Ciena across multiple regions in Indonesia, including Java, Bali, Sumatra, Batam, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Flores. The project supports growing demand for high-capacity and low-latency connectivity driven by increasing digitalization and artificial intelligence-related applications across Southeast Asia.
