The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Cebu Port Authority (CPA) have relaunched the bidding process for the PHP336-million contract to construct a new roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) facility at San Fernando Port in south Cebu for the third time, following the two previous failed biddings.

The bidding invitation was published on April 14, 2021 and bids were submitted by four contractors, including Hi-tone Construction and Development Corporation, F. Gurrea Construction Incorporated, Premium Megastructures Incorporated and a joint venture (JV) between, BSP & Company Incorporated, RCDG Construction Corporation and Great Swiss Metal Builders Corporation. The winner of the bid will be responsible for the civil works for the multi-million dollar plan and the demolition of the existing pier.

The new facility will be a part of DOTr’s Central Spine Roro Route project that aims to ensure that RoRo facilities are available to maintain inter-island connectivity and provide the requirements of the trade and tourism sectors.
