The Berjaya Group of Malaysia will provide assistance to the Philippines in addressing the latter’s problems related to solid waste disposal and the stringent power supply in the country. The Berjaya Group operates the Bukit Tagar sanitary landfill in Malaysia, which handles the disposal of the solid waste of Kuala Lumpur and which is involved in generating electricity using methane, a landfill by-product. The group’s experience and expertise in landfill management will help the Philippines, given the massive problem of solid waste faced by the country, especially during typhoons and floods.
