Basic Energy Corporation has received a certificate of authority from the Department of Energy (DOE) to proceed with its 43MW Cadiz 1 Solar Power Project in Negros Occidental. The approval allows the company to begin permitting processes and procurement activities for the 25-year Solar Energy Operating Contract (SEOC).

The Cadiz solar project, spanning 30 hectares, will undergo a system impact study with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines to assess grid capacity. This marks the second DOE approval for Basic Energy, following the recent clearance of its 62MW Mariveles Solar Project in Bataan. The company plans to develop 500 MW of solar capacity by 2030 and is investing USD760 million in wind projects across Panay, Batangas, and Ilocos Norte.
