Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad signed an RM 121.44 million syndicated Islamic financing facility with Malaysia Debt Ventures on August 11, 2015 for the construction of a 14 MW mini hydroelectric power plant for Kerian Energy Sendirian Berhad in Perak. The project is part of the bank’s plan to increase financing activities for infrastructure projects to boost corporate business contribution from the current 24 per cent to 30 per cent of its revenue. The bank has further plans to open branches in both rural and urban areas, including one or two branches in Kedah, to achieve its target of operating 150 branches nationwide by the end of 2015.
