Bangkok Airways has placed an order worth about $200 million for six aircraft with French manufacturer Aerei da Trasporto Regionale (ATR). The purchase of ATR 72-600s, along with options for two additional aircraft, is part of the first phase of the airline’s renewal plan. The company also plans to acquire up to 30 new-generation, single-aisle jets, valued at $3 billion. Bangkok Airways will use the new ATR 72-600s to replace the older model – the ATR 72-500s that are currently serving the Bangkok–Koh Samui and Sukhothai–Trat routes. The planned delivery schedule of the six aircraft is as follows: one in November 2014, four in 2015, and one in 2016.
