The Axiata Group has made two appointments to its board of directors. Halim Shafie will take up the role of Axiata’s independent and non-executive director, while Syed Ali Syed Salem Alsagoff has been appointed as a non-independent and non-executive director. Halim Shafie has previously served as chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, and chairman of Telekom Malaysia. Alsagoff was part of Bumi Armada, and before that, he oversaw oil and gas-related investments at Ekuiti Nasional.
