The Ministry of Transport (MoT) of Vietnam has approved renovation and upgradation plans for the 996 km Vinh-Nha Trang line under the North-South railway. The project is expected to cost around USD51 million and will be funded from the State budget in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-25.
The Railway Project Management Board, a unit of the MoT, has been appointed to upgrade the bridges and stations along the route. The project is expected to be completed by 2025. Regular operations will continue while work on the line is undertaken.
The upgrade aims to improve rail connectivity and safety, increasing reliability and making the line more favourable for passenger and freight transport.
