The Andalas Energy and Power Corporation has completed the feasibility study for its first 60 MW wellhead gas-to-power project being developed in Indonesia with local partner Pertamina. Andalas Energy aims to develop a portfolio of at least five wellhead independent power producer projects with 250-500 MW of installed capacity, fired with gas from proven fields. The results of the feasibility study by PLN Enjinering, a division of state electricity company PLN, confirm the project’s viability. It says that construction could start by the fourth quarter of 2017 with completion scheduled by the fourth quarter of 2018. The results also suggest that gas supply is sufficient for 20 years of power generation. The project will be classed as “critical” to the Indonesian government’s plan to build 35,000 MW of extra power generation capacity, and projects with wellheads near plants will be “priority projects” that will be the first to be evaluated by authorities.
