Airports of Thailand will proceed with the design of the second phase of Suvarnabhumi airport (Bangkok’s international airport) at a cost of 1.3 billion baht in April 2014. Construction work is expected to begin in August 2014. The first phase of construction will cover the concourse building, 28 parking bays, and exit doors, at an estimated cost of 40 billion baht. The second phase will involve construction of the eastern terminal (7 billion baht), with the third phase designated for the public utility system (2.6 billion baht). Furthermore, the estimated cost of consultancy work and supervision activity is 1.2 billion baht. Once completed, the airport is expected to have a capacity to accommodate up to 65 million passengers per annum.
