US-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology and equipment provider Air Products will provide LNG technology, equipment, and a process licence for Malaysia’s Petronas’s second floating LNG project (PFLNG 2), located off the coast of Malaysia. Based on the agreement, Air Products will manufacture the required equipment, including coil-wound heat exchangers and compressor-expanders at facilities in the US, and the economiser cold boxes at Tanjung Langsat, Malaysia. The equipment will be shipped from the Air Products manufacturing facilities for assembly into modules and then installed on the PFLNG 2 vessel. The PFLNG 2 project is expected to produce 1.5 mtpa of LNG. It is scheduled to commence operations in 2018. The terminal will source natural gas from the Rotan field in the South China Sea, at offshore Sabah, Malaysia.
