PT PLN Indonesia Power has awarded a contract to Sweden-based AFRY to conduct environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs) for a portfolio of five large-scale solar projects, with a combined capacity of 500 MW, in Indonesia. The scope of the contract includes developing a portfolio comprising three floating solar systems and two ground-mounted plants to be located on Java Island.
The planned solar sites are part of PT PLN’s Proyek Hijaunesia 2023, an initiative to construct multiple solar and wind power projects on the islands of Java and Bali and the semi-autonomous province of Aceh.
