Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has announced plans to begin the RM700 million aerotrain replacement programme at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The project involves developing new tracks and deploying nine aerotrains over two phases.

The first phase involving multiple stakeholder engagements will be carried out till March 2023. The second phase entailing construction of the new aerotrain system will be carried out till March 2025.

Each train will have the capacity to carry 5,400 passengers per hour per direction.

Airport buses will be deployed during the three-year transition period, as the current aerotrain system will run on a limited schedule to facilitate the replacement programme.
