AECOM has established an Underground Infrastructure AI Innovation Centre in Singapore with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). The centre will develop AI-powered solutions to improve underground utility data quality, enhance mapping and support more efficient use of underground space for existing and future infrastructure.
The centre is developing software to automate underground utility design and survey workflows, assess the accuracy of existing data, identify areas of severe space congestion and recommend solutions to optimise underground space. The initiative combines artificial intelligence, geographic information systems and advanced survey technologies, with applications in utility corridor studies and major infrastructure projects. It will also collaborate with higher education institutions, infrastructure industry partners and relevant agencies, while providing training and upskilling opportunities for digital and engineering professionals.
