AECOM has established an Underground Infrastructure AI Innovation Centre in Singapore with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). The centre will develop AI-powered solutions to improve underground utility data quality, mapping and planning, while helping safeguard underground space for existing and future infrastructure.
The centre is developing software to automate underground utility design and survey workflows, assess the accuracy of existing data, identify areas of space congestion and recommend ways to optimise underground space. The initiative also incorporates AI, geographic information systems and advanced survey technologies, alongside collaboration with universities, industry partners and government agencies to support skills development and digital engineering capabilities.
