The Government of Vietnam has approved an additional investment worth VND1.92 trillion for the development of the Nhon–-Hanoi Metro Line, taking the total project cost to VND34.82 trillion. The project completion date has also been delayed by two years to 2027.
The delay in project completion and the increase in project cost have been attributed to factors such as lack of coordination between consultants, investors, and agencies; delay in the site clearance procedure; limited competence of contractors; lack of clarity in specifications; and increase in cost of materials and equipment.
The line will span 12.5 km covering 12 stations.
