The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has authorised a USD4.6 million technical assistance package to assist infrastructure project planning and promote sustainable growth in Vietnam. The funding includes a USD2.7 million grant from the Government of Canada and a USD1.9 million grant from the Government of Australia, both of which will be handled by the ADB.

The ADB’s new technical assistance will help by providing policy advice on public-private partnerships (PPP) and private sector development, piloting projects that incorporate the G20 Quality Infrastructure Investment principles and strengthening PPP and private-sector development institutional capacities.

The Government of Vietnam as spent nearly USD117 billion on infrastructure projects between 2011 and 2020.   Between 2021 and 2030, the country will need to invest USD237 billion to address the infrastructure deficit in the country.
