ADB has approved loans worth 4,923.98 billion dong for water supply and road projects in Vietnam.  The first loan, of about 4,404.58 million dong, will finance a water supply project to benefit over 3 million people in six cities and provinces. It is part of a 20,776 billion dong credit package for the Water Sector Investment Program that was approved in 2011. The new disbursement will be used for sub-projects in the provinces of Binh Duong, Dak Lak, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien-Hue, as well as the cities of Da Nang and Hai Phong. The second loan that consists of 519,408 million dong from ADB will be used for improving the quality of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Southern Coastal Road Corridor project. The Australian Agency for International Development has also committed 249,316 million dong to the project. The fund will also be used for the preparation of a detailed design and implementation support scheme for the remaining sections of the GMS Southern Coastal Corridor (Ha Tien to Rach Gia).
