The Philippines Department of Transportation (DOTr) has been exploring cooperation with Canada on major infrastructure projects and the modernisation of national transport systems. Discussions with Canadian authorities cover potential collaboration in the maritime sector, including port modernisation, maritime domain awareness, coastal monitoring and disaster resilience.
The Philippine Ports Authority is upgrading and modernising seaports to support agro-industrial development and improve cargo and passenger services. The discussions are also expected to support broader inter-agency cooperation to strengthen transport capacity, connectivity and network reliability.
