Laguna Lake floating solar project advances with 923 MWp capacity in the Philippines

The Laguna Lake Floating Solar Power Project in the Philippines has advanced following a commitment ceremony involving SunAsia Energy Inc. and Thailand-based Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited. The project will comprise seven floating solar facilities with a combined capacity of nearly 923 MWp, supporting the country’s expansion of renewable energy generation.

The development is expected to demonstrate large-scale floating solar deployment while contributing to the Philippines’ renewable energy targets of at least 35 per cent of the power generation mix by 2030 and 50 per cent by 2040. Community participation, environmental protection and local livelihoods are also expected to be considered during project development.
