The Philippines’ Department of Energy (DOE) has welcomed the opening of a new LPG import terminal in Barangay Libjo, Batangas City, developed by Isla Import Terminals Inc. The facility provides 27,558 US tons of storage capacity for propane, butane and mixed LPG, strengthening the country’s LPG import and distribution infrastructure.
The terminal is designed to receive cargo from Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs) as well as pressurised LPG vessels, allowing large volumes of LPG to be imported directly from overseas suppliers and stored before nationwide distribution.
Once received, LPG will be distributed through two transport modes: road tank trucks and inter-island pressurised LPG vessels, supporting supply to provinces across the Philippine archipelago. The DOE stated that the facility strengthens a critical link in the national LPG supply chain by improving import handling, storage capacity and fuel movement between islands.
The Batangas terminal forms part of broader LPG infrastructure investments alongside the inauguration of Isla LPG Corp.’s Leganes Plant in Iloilo, which focuses on regional storage, cylinder filling and last-mile distribution in Western Visayas.
