Isla Import Terminals, Inc. (IITI) has commissioned a new LPG import terminal in Barangay Libjo, Batangas City, adding 25 kilotons (kT) of nominal storage capacity to the Philippines’ fuel supply chain. The Department of Energy (DOE) said the facility is expected to strengthen the reliability of LPG supply nationwide.
The terminal can store propane, butane and mixed LPG and is designed to receive propane and butane shipments from Very Large Gas Carriers, as well as pressurised LPG shipments. The facility will distribute LPG through trucks and inter-island pressurised LPG vessels, providing large-scale import and storage capability for markets across the country.
The project forms part of broader investments in the Philippines’ LPG import, storage and distribution infrastructure aimed at improving supply resilience and the ability to respond to disruptions affecting global fuel markets, shipping routes and energy-product flows. The DOE said the facility complements the Leganes Plant in Iloilo, which provides storage, cylinder filling and distribution capacity for Western Visayas.
