The Philippines’ Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Department of Tourism (DOT) are strengthening coordination on transport infrastructure projects aimed at improving access to tourist destinations and supporting growth in the country’s tourism industry. The Government discussed ongoing and planned projects to improve connectivity and accessibility to key tourism destinations nationwide.
The DOTr provided updates on airport and seaport projects, including Siargao Airport, Benoni Port in Mahinog, Camiguin, and the Port of Jubang in Dapa, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte. The government is also pursuing improvements to passenger terminal buildings and runway extensions at regional airports, including Busuanga, Tacloban, Aklan, Tuguegarao, Siargao, Bukidnon and Laoag airports.
