Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) has launched Zankore by Indosat, a new venture to develop a 1 GW AI factory and neocloud platform in Indonesia. Ooredoo Group, IOH’s parent company, has invested USD800 million to support the launch and initial development of the platform and holds a 49 per cent stake in the venture. Nokia and Nvidia are also partners, with Nokia providing AI networking infrastructure and Nvidia supplying GPU hardware and software.
Zankore plans to initially deploy 200 MW of AI capacity in the first half of 2027, with capacity expected to scale to 1 GW upon completion. The platform will integrate AI compute infrastructure with networking capabilities and AI software, forming an integrated platform for enterprises deploying AI applications at scale.
The venture is intended to support Indonesia’s ambition to become a regional AI hub and provide a base for expansion into other markets. The partners expect demand for AI compute infrastructure in Southeast Asia to increase as data centre capacity requirements grow, with AI workloads identified as a major driver. Zankore has established an independent board comprising representatives of its main shareholders to provide strategic oversight and governance. The venture is reportedly forecast to generate approximately USD13 billion in revenue and USD9 billion in cumulative EBITDA over five years, although these figures are projections rather than confirmed project investment values.
