The Governments of Kazakhstan and Thailand have signed a Joint Action Plan for 2027–2028 to deepen bilateral cooperation across trade, investment and strategic sectors. The agreement was signed following talks between Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev and Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeo. The roadmap is intended to strengthen economic cooperation and expand partnerships over the next two years.

Under the action plan, the two countries will enhance collaboration in agriculture, the food industry, transport and logistics, green energy, strategic minerals, tourism and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides also agreed to promote greater investment flows and develop joint projects, while recognising Kazakhstan’s role as a gateway to Central Asia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and Thailand’s strategic position as a gateway to ASEAN markets. Thailand also highlighted Kazakhstan’s growing importance within the Middle Corridor connecting Asia and Europe.

The agreement builds on expanding economic relations between the two countries, with bilateral trade reaching USD255 million in the previous year. The 2027–2028 roadmap is expected to facilitate new investment opportunities, strengthen regional connectivity and support long-term economic cooperation between Central Asia and Southeast Asia.
