Eni has signed three long-term agreements for the purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the South Hub and North Hub gas projects in Indonesia. The projects are operated by Eni, which holds an average participating interest exceeding 80% across the two hubs, and the agreements are intended to strengthen the company’s global LNG supply portfolio.
The agreements cover LNG volumes sourced from Eni-operated gas developments in the Kutei Basin, with total contracted volumes of approximately 2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). Supply will be delivered through the existing Bontang LNG facilities in East Kalimantan, including the reactivation of an LNG train that has remained idle for several years. The initiative is expected to maximise utilisation of existing infrastructure while supporting Indonesia’s role as a regional and international LNG supplier.
The additional supply volumes contribute to Eni’s target of achieving more than 20 mtpa of contracted LNG supply by 2030. The agreements also support the company’s broader strategy of integrating upstream gas production with LNG infrastructure and international market access while addressing growing regional energy demand and supporting lower-carbon energy development.
