The Government of Sarawak has voiced support for extending the proposed Trans-Borneo Railway across the border into Kalimantan, Indonesia, to strengthen regional trade, mobility and economic integration across Borneo.
The planned extension is expected to improve Sarawak–Kalimantan logistics links, support bilateral trade, and promote people-to-people connectivity, particularly as regional travel demand rises ahead of major events in Borneo. The initiative aligns with wider ambitions to develop Borneo into a more integrated economic and trading region.
