Philippines-based power utility Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Vietnam’s V-Green Global Charging Station Development Corp. and Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Co. (Green GSM) to accelerate the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in Metro Manila and other major cities across the Philippines.
Under the partnership, the companies will assess sites for EV charging stations and electric taxi hubs, while also facilitating technical cooperation and knowledge sharing on EV systems. Green GSM is Vietnam’s first all-electric ride-hailing operator, and V-Green specialises in EV charging networks. The initiative aligns with the country’s Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act.
The Vietnamese firms have expanded in the Philippines with plans covering EV distribution, infrastructure, and taxi operations. Meralco emphasised the importance of building a future-ready and inclusive transport ecosystem.
