The Governments of Indonesia and China have been advancing the two countries’ Twin Parks initiative with China at the Batang Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Central Java. The project aims to attract IDR16 trillion in investment, focusing on maritime, food manufacturing, electronics, and building materials industries. The initiative aligns with Indonesia’s Global Maritime Axis vision and China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

Since the 2021 memorandum of understanding (MoU), the collaboration has increased industrial investment between the two nations. The initiative is expected to enhance technology transfer, infrastructure development, and industrial competitiveness. In addition, Hartarto briefed Prabowo on the planned expansion of the Nongsa SEZ in Batam and the Singhasari SEZ in Malang, which is set to become Indonesia’s first digital hub.
