The Government of Thailand has approved a USD3.2 billion expressway project aimed at alleviating traffic congestion south of Bangkok. The 72 km route will link Highway 35 (Rama II Road) in Samut Sakhon to Highway 34 (Bang Na-Trat Road) in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan, enhancing travel efficiency for drivers. Managed by the Expressway Authority of Thailand (Exat), the expressway, named the Samut Sakhon-Samut Prakan Riviera Project, is part of Thailand’s larger Motorway and Railway Master Plan (MR-Map) under the Department of Highways.

A feasibility study for the project is scheduled to start between 2026 and 2027, with completion expected within two years. The new infrastructure aims to provide smoother connectivity between these major highways, reducing travel times in the Bangkok metropolitan area.
