Prime Infrastructure and its subsidiary, Prime Integrated Waste Solutions (PWS), have won the Green Project of the Year at the Sustainable Infrastructure Awards 2024. Prime Infrastructure was recognised for their successful acquisition and automation of a material recovery facility (MRF) in Cebu, funded by a PHP1.35 billion green loan from HSBC.
The upgraded MRF, capable of processing 1,000 tons of solid waste daily, is a significant step toward modernizing waste management in the Philippines. The facility is designed to recover and recycle 80-90 per cent of the waste it processes, helping reduce landfill usage and harmful methane emissions. This project aligns with the growing demand for sustainable waste management in the country, particularly in fast-developing urban areas.
