The Asia Investment Facility under the European Union (EU), the French Development Agency (AFD), and the Government of Vietnam have signed a financial agreement to develop Hanoi’s transport system. As per the agreement, the EU will provide EUR10 million in non-refundable official development assistance (ODA) to conduct a feasibility study for extending the existing Metro Line 3.
Following the extension, Hanoi Metro Line 3, which currently spans 12.5 km between Nhon Station in Bac Tu Liem District and Ha Noi Railway Station in Dong Da District, will be expanded by 8.7 km to Hoang Mai District.
The extension will be implemented with Official Development Assistance (ODA) loans sourced from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and KfW Development Bank of Germany. Additionally, the Vietnamese government will contribute counterpart capital estimated at EUR226.87 million.
