PT PLN (Persero), a state-owned utility, has commenced operations on a 561kWp floating solar power plant in Semarang, the largest such facility in Indonesia. The floating power plant will be operated by PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP), a PLN subsidiary, and is part of a 920kWp floating solar project, which is currently under construction at the Gas and Steam Power Generation Complex (PLTGU).
The solar plant will generate around 1.4 million kWh of renewable energy annually and will offset up to 1,304 tons of carbon emissions per year.
