Mobilus Sdn Bhd (Mobilus) has commenced the trial of the Iskandar Malaysia bus rapid transit (BRT), the first automated BRT system in south-east Asia. Mobilus is a joint venture (JV) of Malaysia-based Ireka Corporation Berhad (51 per cent stake) and CRRC Urban Traffic (Europe) Company Limited (49 per cent stake). The duration of the trial will be three months. A subsidiary of CRRC has supplied the automated rapid transit (ART) vehicle for the trial.

The vehicle has a capacity for 500 passengers and has a maximum speed of 70 km/hr. The Malaysia Institute of Transport (MITRANS) will evaluate the trials.
