Singapore-based operator M1, in partnership with Nokia, has successfully completed a licensed assisted access (LAA) small cells trial. According to the two companies, the trial achieved download speeds of around 1 Gbps on a live network. The trial was conducted using Nokia’s advanced LAA Air Scale small cell solution. Nokia’s advanced LAA solution will help M1 improve data bandwidth at high-traffic hotspots, minimise network congestion and continue to deliver high data speed to customers in crowded locations. Further, it will also help ensure seamless coverage and uninterrupted mobile service across M1’s cellular and Wi-Fi network, thereby significantly improving customers’ experience.
