A consortium of Kawasaki Heavy Industries and CSR Qingdao Sifang has delivered a single four-car driverless train for the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) in Singapore. The consortium had secured an SGD 479 million contract from the LTA in 2014 to supply 91 four-car driverless trains by 2022. The TEL will span 43 km from Woodlands to Sungai Bedok, covering 31 stations. It is expected to open in phases between 2019 and 2024.
