P LN has announced plans to take over the construction of a 2,000 MW coal-fired power plant, Jawa 5, in Serang, Banten. PLN will build the power plant itself after the cancellation of the tender for the project. The project, however, will still be built under the independent power producer (IPP) scheme by a subsidiary of PLN and a private company partner. PLN has revoked the IPP tender for the power project as PLN found irregularities in the tendering process. The project is estimated to cost Rp 40 trillion.
