DiGi Telecommunications has launched its 4G LTE network in Kota Kinabalu, the capital of the state of Sabah. With the launch, data users in the region will be able to access a minimum internet speed of 1 Mbps for around 80 per cent of the time on DiGi’s network. The company is planning to complete its LTE network roll-out assigned for the year 2014 by strengthening its telecom infrastructure in East Malaysia and aims to cover about 84 per cent of Kota Kinabalu by end-2014. Further, DiGi is planning to expand its 4G services to Tawau and Labuan in Sabah and Miri in Sarawak by the same time. In terms of existing coverage, DiGi has its 4G services in the Klang Valley, Penang, Kampar, Johor Bahru and Kuching in Malaysia.
