Rapid Rail Sendirian Berhad has introduced its first four-car train fleet, assembled from its older two-car train, to improve services on its LRT network as part of a mid-life refurbishment project. This will increase passengers per car to 976 and reduce waiting time. The new longer trains will be deployed in stages until 2020. The mid-life refurbishment project has been contracted to Bombardier Hartasuma Consortium (BHC) and will be managed by Prime. The testing and commissioning were carried out by BHC with participation from Prime, Rapid Rail and Consulting Engineer, with close supervision by the Land Public Transport Commission. By 2020, Rapid KL LRT Kelana Jaya Line will be fully serviced by 64 sets of four-car sets.
