Batangas port, operated by Asian Terminals, Inc. (ATI), was awarded the “Green Port Award System (GPAS)” for its efforts to promote green growth in the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) region. The port, recognised by APEC Port Services Network (APSN) for its sustainable port practices, was the only recipient of the GPAS in the Philippines in 2018.

Batangas port follows comprehensive operational, safety and environmental protocols, guided by international management standards on environment, occupational health and safety, quality and supply chain security. It is also compliant with the ISPS code mandated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and actively engages in socio-economic initiatives such as coastal and community clean-up drives, mangrove seeding, reforesting activities, etc.

The GPAS also cites green and sustainable development in port and port-related industries and provides a platform for sharing best practices among ports in the APEC region.
