Nippon Sharyo has delivered four trains, each comprising six cars, for the Jakarta mass rapid transit (MRT) system. Two of the trains, which had been delivered in April 2018, are being used for system acceptance tests. MRT Jakarta has purchased 16 trains, 14 of which will be used daily while the other two will be set aside as backup. The remaining trains are scheduled to arrive in November 2018. The 15.7 km Phase I of the MRT will start its trial run in December 2018 and is expected to be operational by March 2019.
