Construction has commenced on the third phase of the Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Development project in Thailand. Work under Phase 3 includes the construction of two 814-metre-long liquid cargo berths, three gas berths, a service jetty as well as a warehouse to store the natural gas.

The THB55.4 billion port project is one of the key developments in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Works on the first two phases, including land reclamation and dredging watercourses, have been completed. Commercial operation on the port is expected to commence by 2026.

Once operational, the deep seaport will be able to support the transport of 31 million tons of natural gas per year and will contribute in maintaining Thailand’s energy security.
