Works plans have been approved for the second phase of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) project in Malaysia. The second phase involves construction of 326 km of roads. Work on this phase is scheduled to commence in 2023 and be completed in 2028.

The second stage of the road project will involve four packages.

The first package will cover the 45 km stretch between Mulu and Long Seridan, the second package covers the 92 km stretch from Long Seridan to Nanga Medamit and Package 3 covers the 98 km section between Long Lopeng and Long Komap. The remaining package will include the 91 km section from Rh Aling to Long Merarap.

The 425 km SSLR project is being implemented in two stages with the first phase covering the first 90 km of the road. Work on this phase is currently underway. The entire project is expected to cost around RM5.2 billion and will improve connectivity between the Malaysian cities of Sarawak and Sabah.

Despite slowdown due to the Covid-19 restriction in the country, work is still on schedule.
