Construction works on the 700 km road stretch in Indonesia’s northern province of Aceh are likely to take off in 2014. The project that is estimated to cost about Rp 2.5 trillion has an expected completion date of 2016. Taking into account the existing roads, the new highway will cover a stretch of 1,000 km to link the northeast coast and the southwest coast of Aceh. It will connect Aceh Tengah, Bener Meriah, Gayo Lues, and Aceh Tenggara. The project is awaiting regulatory clearances from the government.
